What you are buying
Wunkus Labs DEV sells hobbyist electronics: replacement storage boards and accessories for vintage devices, for people comfortable opening and modifying old hardware. They are not consumer appliances, and they are not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple.
You do the installation. That means opening, disassembling, and modifying a fragile vintage device with an aging battery inside, which can be damaged no matter how careful you are. By purchasing, you accept that you install at your own risk and are responsible for your device, your tools, and your workspace. If that is not for you, please do not install our products.
Compatibility is as described on each product page and nowhere else. Where a product page says an adapter or card “seems to work,” that reflects limited testing, not a guarantee. Physical fit constraints stated on the product page are firm.
You must be at least 18, or have a parent or guardian accept these terms on your behalf, to place an order.
Who you are buying from
Wunkus Labs DEV is a trading name of Wunkus Labs LLC, and Wunkus Labs LLC is the seller of record and the warrantor named in the limited warranty below.
We are an email-only shop, and email is where warranty claims and all other correspondence should go: dev@wunkuslabs.com. We answer every message ourselves.
Open source
The gateware running on the board is MIT licensed and the board design is licensed under CERN-OHL-P-2.0. Both live at github.com/dantidote/sphinxmoth. You are free to read, modify, rebuild, and redistribute either one under those licenses, which carry their own warranty disclaimers separate from the limited warranty below.
Orders and pricing
Placing an order is an offer to buy, which we accept when we ship. Until then we may decline or cancel any order, in whole or in part, for reasons including a pricing or listing error, stock we turn out not to have, suspected fraud, bulk orders that look like they are for resale, or an address we cannot ship to. If we cancel, we refund the affected items in full, including shipping if the whole order is canceled, and that refund is the entire remedy. We are not obligated to honor an incorrect price even after your card has been charged.
Prices are in US dollars, and the price that applies is the one shown at checkout. We may limit quantities per order or per customer.
Limited warranty
This is a Limited Warranty. It is given by Wunkus Labs LLC to the original purchaser and is not transferable.
What is covered, and for how long. We warrant our boards against defects in materials and workmanship for 90 days from the date of delivery.
What we will do. If a board proves defective within those 90 days, we will repair it, replace it, or refund what you paid for it, at our option. We pay to ship the repaired or replacement board to you. If we ask you to send the board back, we reimburse tracked return postage up to the amount you paid us for shipping on the original order, and we may instead ask for photos or a video and skip the return entirely.
What you need to do. Email dev@wunkuslabs.com with your order number and a description of the problem, before the 90 days are up. We will reply with a return address if the board needs to come back to us.
What is not covered. Misuse, accident, improper installation, physical or electrical modification of the board, normal wear, and damage caused by the device the board is installed in or by anything else connected to it. We stand behind our assembly. We cannot warrant what a 25-year-old device will do.
Reflashing the gateware with your own build does not void this warranty. The gateware is open source and meant to be modified. We just cannot warrant how the board behaves running gateware we did not build.
Implied warranties. Any implied warranties on this product, including the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are limited in duration to the 90-day period of this written warranty. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so this limitation may not apply to you. After the warranty period, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, products are provided as-is and as-available.
This warranty does not cover incidental or consequential damages, including damage to the device a product is installed in, loss of data, or loss of use. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so this exclusion may not apply to you.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wunkus Labs LLC's total liability for any claim arising from a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for the product, and Wunkus Labs LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including damage to the device a product is installed in, loss of data, or loss of use. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
California Proposition 65
WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including lead, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.
Shipping, preorders, and returns
We ship to the address you give at checkout; make sure it is correct, and contact us promptly if it changes before your order ships. We ship worldwide except to destinations restricted by US export law or that no carrier delivers to; the country list at checkout is authoritative.
Preorders. Items marked preorder are charged at checkout and ship when stock arrives. Ship estimates on preordered items are estimates, not promises. You may cancel a preordered item any time before it ships for a full refund; just email us.
Duties and taxes. Import duties, customs fees, and taxes charged by your own country are your responsibility. They are not included in our prices or shipping rates, they are collected by your customs authority or carrier rather than by us, and we cannot tell you in advance what they will be.
Returns depend on where you are:
- United States. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the product price, and you pay the return shipping. Email us first for the return address. The board must come back uninstalled and in resalable condition; a board that has been installed is a warranty matter, not a return. Original shipping is not refunded. Preorders can be cancelled any time before they ship for a full refund.
- UK and European Union. Your law gives you a 14-day cooling-off right that these terms cannot reduce: you may cancel for any reason within 14 days of receiving your order, even after opening the package, by emailing us. Send the goods back within 14 days of telling us and we refund within 14 days of receiving them, including the standard shipping you originally paid; return postage is yours. The right covers inspecting the board the way you could in a shop, not using it. If it has been installed, powered, or otherwise handled beyond that, we will reduce the refund by the value that handling has cost, which for an installed board can be most or all of the price. Separately, EU law gives you at least two years from delivery to raise a lack of conformity, and in the UK the Consumer Rights Act 2015 applies; our 90-day warranty sits on top of those rights and does not shorten them.
- Everywhere else. The US policy applies: 30 days, uninstalled, you pay return shipping, product price refunded. If your own consumer law guarantees you more, your law wins (see below).
Resolving disputes
Talk to us first. Most problems are a two-email fix. Before either of us starts a formal proceeding, send a written description of the claim and what you want to resolve it to dev@wunkuslabs.com, and give us 60 days to work it out. We will do the same for you.
Where. If it does come to a legal claim, you and Wunkus Labs LLC agree to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts sitting in the State of Michigan, and each of us consents to personal jurisdiction there. Either of us may instead bring a qualifying claim in a small claims court that has jurisdiction over the other.
Time limit. Any claim for breach of contract or breach of warranty must be brought within one year after it arises, or it is waived. This does not apply to claims for personal injury or to anything else the law does not allow us to shorten.
Your local law comes first
If you are buying as a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away any right your own law gives you that cannot be waived by contract, wherever you live. That includes the right to be heard in your local courts and under your own consumer law where your law guarantees it. Wherever a part of these terms would cut into such a right, including the limited warranty, the limitation of liability, and the dispute resolution section, that part does not apply to you to that extent, and neither does the choice of Michigan law below. Everything else still applies. In the US this is the “some states do not allow” rule stated once instead of after every clause: where your state does not permit a limitation or exclusion in these terms, it does not apply to you.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. They are the entire agreement between you and Wunkus Labs LLC about your purchase. We may change them, and the version in effect on the date you placed your order is the one that governs it. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.
