Sphinxmoth v1.1
$99.00In stock
Replaces the hard drive in a 1st or 2nd generation iPod with a CompactFlash card. Same size as the original drive: unplug the old one, plug this in, close it up.
- Lighter, silent, longer battery life, faster to skip tracks, and no aging hard drive to fail
- Full-speed FireWire sync and restore, exactly as the iPod shipped
Cards:
- CF cards or CF-to-SD adapters must be CF Type I (3.3 mm thick) and support UDMA. Thicker Type II cards and adapters do not fit; non-UDMA ones will not work
- Up to 128 GB. That is the iPod's limit, not ours; larger cards will misbehave.
- SD / microSD through a Type I UDMA CF-to-SD adapter works in our testing
- Libraries much past ~9,000 songs get flaky on these early iPods (limited RAM).
Board only. SD/CF card, adapter, iPod not included; installation is DIY.
Cheap CF adapters cannot sync over FireWire. Here is why.
Covered by a 90-day limited warranty.
